Hohner Heavy Duty Encoders

February 06, 2025

Hohner Automation design and manufacture a wide range of incremental and absolute encoders, but in this article we will be focusing on the range of heavy duty Hohner incremental encoders.

Introducing Hohner Heavy Duty Encoders

The whole range of heavy duty Hohner incremental encoders are specially designed to provide maximum robustness and reliability. They guarantee the best performance even in the most challenging conditions, whether it is extremely hot or cold temperatures or environments with a lot of dust or humidity.

All of the Hohner heavy duty encoders can also withstand shocks and vibrations to continue providing a reliable performance.

The range of heavy duty Hohner incremental encoders includes products with diameters ranging between 100mm and 134mm. The impressive operating temperature range is between minus-40 degrees Celsius to around 100 degrees Celsius.

Now let’s look closer at some of the products in the range of heavy duty Hohner incremental encoders.

100/DUO Series of Hohner Heavy Duty Encoder

Both the 100/DUO Series and the 100H/DUO Series are Hohner incremental encoders for heavy duty industrial applications. The housing is made out of anodized aluminium with an external diameter of 100mm, while the stainless steel shaft has a 11mm diameter. The bearings are a dual set of hybrid bearings with ceramic balls, and feature integrated bearing insulation of up to 2.5kV.

The 100 and 100H Series Hohner heavy duty encoders have a significantly higher resolution of pulses per rotation than the other products in the heavy duty Hohner encoder range. The protection class rating of Series 100 is IP66 according to DIN EN 60529 which means it can withstand powerful water jets.

The connection is created via terminal box with plug-in and spring-loaded terminal connectors, plus both the 100 and 100H Series of Hohner incremental encoders are rotatable through 360 degrees and it has dual output available.

130M Series of Heavy Duty Hohner Incremental Encoders

The 130M Series is another model of Hohner incremental encoders designed specifically for heavy duty industrial applications. The housing’s external diameter is 100mm and is made out of anodized aluminium to make it especially resistant to high vibration and shocks.

The 11mm AISI 316-graded stainless steel shaft is ideal for use in corrosive environments including the likes of chemical plants, refineries and marine equipment. As with the 100 and 100H Series, the bearings of the 130M Series are a dual set of hybrid bearings with ceramic balls, which feature integrated bearing insulation of up to 2.5kV.

The resolution pulse range of this 130M Series is less than half that of the 100 and 100H Series, plus the protection class rating is IP68 which allows this model to perform while fully immersed.
