How do I work out the pitch of my chain?
The number in the chain code typically indicates the pitch in eighths of an inch. (for example, ASA 50 has a 5/8-inch pitch and ASA 60 has a 3/4-inch pitch).
How often should I lubricate a roller chain?
It depends entirely on your specific operating environment, speed, and load. For low-speed operations, manual lubrication with oil or grease is usually required every 8 hours of operation. Medium or high-speed drives generally require continuous drip lubrication or an oil bath.
