ScanDrive® Drum Motors By Ellegaard
ScanDrive® drum motors match the technical performance and quality of leading global solutions and can be easily integrated into existing conveyor designs. With a mechanical efficiency of approximately 97%, they offer significantly lower power consumption compared to traditional geared drive systems.
Ellegaard has developed a ground-breaking new PM motor and control system designed to optimize material flow while delivering significant cost savings. The advanced PM motor technology, combined with sophisticated electronic control, fully utilizes the motor’s capacity. This results in market-leading efficiency, with energy consumption exceeding the latest European energy efficiency standards.
The rotor position is continuously monitored, allowing the current to be adjusted according to rotational speed and load. This level of control is not possible with a standard motor, where the current remains constant regardless of rotor position.
In the food industry, strict hygiene and cleaning requirements make encapsulated motors a clear advantage. In other industrial sectors, their compact design and reduced space requirements represent the primary benefit.
ScanDrive® – Drum motors are designed for use in both stationary and mobile conveyor systems and can also be applied in beltless conveyor configurations.
ScanDrive® L – Is supplied as standard with plastic gearing and a fixed cable connection.
ScanDrive® S – Features steel gears and is available with either a cable or a terminal box.
Motor – Most drum motors are supplied as 3-phase motors,
which, through the compact structure of the motor-rotor gearbox, provide the best traction.
Drum Shell – Electric motor and gearbox are located in the shell, which is closed at both ends with a cover, The shell of ScanDrive® drum motors is supplied as standard with cambering.
Coatings of Drum Motors & Drive Rollers
If you need a hard-wearing, durable transport solution, Ellegaard can apply rubber or polyurethane (PU) coatings to drum motors, drive rollers, and rollers. Ellegaard can coat their own drum motors and components, as well as your existing drum motors and rollers.
Rubber and polyurethane (PU) coatings offer different properties when applied to drum motors, rollers, and similar components. In many applications, a rubber coating on the drum motor or roller is sufficient to ensure good grip on the conveyor belt. Rubber coatings also offer a simple and cost-effective solution.

Polyurethan is like rubber, very wear resistant and can withstand high loads. In addition, polyurethane is resistant to certain grease, oil and chemical types and the material can be used on countless surfaces. Polyurethane is also a very flexible material and can also be sprayed directly onto the surface of the workpiece without leaving visible joints.

ScanDrive Drum Brackets
ScanDrive drum brackets fit drum motors from Ø60 to Ø165, both ScanDrive® S and ScanDrive® L, but also drum motors from other suppliers. The brackets are supplied as standard in stainless steel.
